Chinese app being misused to stop e-rickshaws on the road
Some pranksters are using a Chinese application called BAT-BMS to shut down e-rickshaws while they are moving in traffic. This app is meant for tracking lithium batteries that have Bluetooth connectivity. Many e-rickshaws in India run on inexpensive lithium battery packs that feature weak Bluetooth security. Because of this, anyone nearby can link to the battery and turn off its discharge feature, which immediately cuts power to the vehicle's motor.
