China's maglev train reaches 800 kmph in 5.3 seconds

A prototype maglev train in China has set a new record for short-distance acceleration for the third time in half a year, accelerating from zero to 800 kmph in only 5.3 seconds. This 1.1-tonne craft underwent testing on a one-kilometre track located at Hubei province's Donghu Laboratory. The vehicle was then brought to a safe, controlled halt within a distance of about 200 metres.
