Chennai locals transform polluted lake into vibrant community hub
People residing near a 50-acre lake in Chitlapakkam, Chennai, took matters into their own hands to turn a sewage-filled water body into a thriving public area. Over 2,000 locals joined forces to revive the century-old lake after discovering contaminated black water in their borewells. Impressed by their resolve, the Chief Minister visited the site and approved a budget of ₹25 crore to complete the restoration project.
