On Tuesday, the 100-year-old Chaiti Durga Temple in Bhagalpur, Bihar, was carried away by the rising waters of the Ganga River. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary described the conditions in Bhagalpur district as "challenging and difficult," noting that intense river erosion has consumed vast areas of land and created significant pressure. The temple collapsed into the river in a matter of seconds.
