Centre to co-fund chip startups to prevent foreign takeovers: MeitY Secretary
MeitY Secretary S Krishnan announced that the updated India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 will provide long-term funding to support the independent growth of promising Indian companies. Through this initiative, the government plans to co-invest in chip design startups alongside venture capital firms. Krishnan explained that this equity-matching strategy is designed to stop international tech corporations from acquiring these startups too early.
