Centre aims for total ownership of Konkan Railway to boost safety
The central government is looking to acquire complete control of the Konkan Railway Corporation to speed up investments in safety measures, upgrading old infrastructure, and increasing capacity. At present, the Ministry of Railways holds a 66.79% stake, with the rest divided among Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, and Kerala. To date, only Goa has consented to hand over its shares, while Maharashtra is requesting a refund for its initial investment.
