CBDT increases Cost Inflation Index to 384 for FY27
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has hiked the Cost Inflation Index (CII) for the 2026-27 financial year to 384, marking a 2.12% increase from the previous year's figure of 376. Starting April 1, this updated index will be applied to determine long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax for qualifying taxpayers. Because the CII has been raised, individuals who sell long-term assets could benefit from a reduction in their LTCG tax liability.
