Cancer patient passes away after plea for medication faced 57 hearing delays
A patient suffering from cancer has died while her legal petition seeking access to the life-saving breast cancer drug Rebociclib remained pending, having been scheduled for a hearing 57 times. The case was initially brought before the Kerala High Court in June 2022. Since January 21, 2023, the matter was listed for a final hearing on 57 separate occasions, yet it was never actually heard. Following her death, the court has opted to proceed with the case suo motu.
