Bulgaria: Woolly mammoth fossils discovered in Danube riverbed
Fossils belonging to a prehistoric woolly mammoth have been recovered from the bottom of the Danube river in Bulgaria, following a historic drop in water levels caused by recent heatwaves and drought. Specialists from the Regional History Museum in Ruse confirmed the discovery of a rib, a pair of tusks, and a lower jawbone. These remains are now set to undergo additional analysis to determine their exact age and historical background.
