Bombay HC halves wife's maintenance, says equality isn't selective
The Bombay High Court has slashed the monthly maintenance amount an estranged husband must pay his wife from ₹50,000 to ₹25,000. In its ruling, the court stated that equality cannot be applied selectively, emphasizing that both working spouses should share the costs of running a household and raising their child. The court also took into account that the husband is currently responsible for paying EMIs on two separate properties located in Andheri and Panvel.
