Bombay HC: Caste system persists even as India reaches the Moon
The Bombay High Court remarked that the caste system continues to force individuals into manual scavenging, a practice it described as beneath human dignity. The court stated, "We boast about reaching the other side of the Moon, yet the caste system is still followed in our country." The bench ordered the government to locate the families of all individuals who have died while performing manual scavenging within the next six months and provide them with ₹30 lakh in compensation.
