Bishnoi gang exploited Canadian student visas for Indian extortion schemes
A report from the Canada Border Services Agency indicates that the Bishnoi gang leveraged Indian nationals traveling to Canada on student visas to facilitate an extortion network back in India. From 2019 to 2023, 4,000 students from India faced a total of 17,929 criminal charges. Data shows that 97% of these incidents were classified as violent. Additionally, more than 13,040 criminal charges were filed against Indian citizens throughout 2024.
