Bhopal locals feed 'gulab jamun' to donkeys as part of rain-invoking ritual
In a bid to bring rainfall to Bhopal, residents participated in an unusual tradition by feeding 'gulab jamun' to donkeys. A participant explained that the practice is intended to appease Lord Indra, the deity of rain. While government figures indicate that 35 districts across Madhya Pradesh are experiencing a rainfall deficit, Bhopal has actually recorded 44% more rain than its typical average.
