Bhopal: 70% of water samples near former Union Carbide site show contamination
Groups representing Bhopal gas tragedy survivors state that approximately 70% of drinking water samples taken from neighborhoods surrounding the defunct Union Carbide plant contain faecal coliform, signaling significant pollution. Out of 63 tap water samples gathered across 30 different areas this month, 43 tested positive for contamination. Local residents living in the vicinity of the factory report that they are frequently dealing with health issues like typhoid and diarrhoea.
