Berlin's mayor reports extortion attempt following data theft

According to Berlin's mayor, the city is facing blackmail from cybercriminals who managed to exfiltrate data during an attack a fortnight ago. The perpetrators are reportedly auctioning off the stolen files, setting an initial bid of 30 Bitcoin, which equates to approximately $2.5 million (₹23.86 crore). The breach resulted in the theft of 5.79 terabytes of information, encompassing 46,500 contracts, along with various emails, passwords, phone numbers, and sensitive classified documents.
