Bar councils are now like men's clubs, says CJI Surya Kant

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated that bar councils have turned into 'men's clubs' and are viewed by many as a monopoly. He emphasized that this situation must be entirely dismantled. A Supreme Court bench headed by the CJI has instructed the Chief Justices of all High Courts to ensure that two women are co-opted as members in every state bar council.
