Bankipur Bypoll: Candidates sharing names with Nitish and Lalu lose deposits
In the Bankipur Assembly by-election, two Independent candidates who shared names with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav failed to secure enough votes to keep their security deposits. Lalu Prasad Yadav managed to get only 81 votes, accounting for 0.06% of the total, while Nitish Kumar received 149 votes, or 0.11%. The election was won by Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who secured victory over his BJP opponent by a margin exceeding 19,000 votes.
