Bangladesh to conduct presidential vote today, first contested election in 35 years
On Thursday, Bangladesh's parliament members will participate in a presidential election, the first of its kind in over three decades. The polling process is scheduled to take place between 2 pm and 5 pm at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Lawmakers will cast their ballots to decide between the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party's senior figure Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the candidate representing the 11-party opposition coalition, Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed.
