Bangladesh hit by severe natural gas shortage; industries and homes impacted
Bangladesh is currently experiencing a shortage of natural gas, which has impacted households, manufacturing plants, and fertiliser manufacturing. One facility that generates 1,000 tonnes of fertiliser every day has stopped operations, and hundreds of textile factories have also shut down. A local woman mentioned that the gas pressure was so weak that she was unable to light two burners at the same time. The drop in gas output is linked to a lack of investment in older fields, alongside a decrease in imports triggered by the US-Iran conflict.
