Ballari: Farmer forced to destroy 5-acre maize crop due to drought
A farmer in Ballari was compelled to clear his five-acre maize field after the monsoon did not arrive and his borewell ran dry. Rajasaab, who had spent approximately ₹2 lakh on the cultivation, was anticipating a harvest of 50 quintals per acre. However, constant electricity outages and a sharp decline in groundwater prevented him from keeping the crop alive. Meanwhile, agriculture department officials have instructed farmers to finish the self-survey on the ‘Bele’ app prior to removing their crops.
