Bail granted within 24 hours to political commentator arrested for offensive remarks about women
A Thiruvananthapuram court released right-wing commentator TG Mohandas on bail this Monday, just one day after his arrest. He was taken into custody on Sunday following controversial statements regarding women protesters, where he claimed they "enjoy being raped" and suggested he would have directed police to shoot at demonstrators at Jantar Mantar. Following the incident, Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar labeled the late-night arrest an act of political retaliation by the Congress party.
