According to a report by Telecom Asia Sport, Babar Azam agreed to take over as Pakistan's Test captain only after insisting that he be given leadership across all formats. An insider noted that Babar consistently aimed to be the primary captain for the national team in every format. Earlier this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board removed Shan Masood from the position and reinstated Babar as the Test skipper.
