Assam releases 10 captive-bred vultures into their natural habitat
On Friday, the Assam Forest Department partnered with the Bombay Natural History Society to set 10 captive-bred vultures free in the wild. This included five critically endangered Slender-billed vultures, marking the first time this species has been released globally after being bred in captivity. These birds were raised as part of the Vulture Conservation Programme and underwent a three-month acclimation period in a custom-built aviary to prepare them for life in the wild.
