Assam grants 6-month loan repayment break for flood-impacted areas
On Thursday, the Assam administration declared a six-month pause on loan repayments for residents living in four districts impacted by floods. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma further stated that banks will issue an extra ₹10,000 to retail business owners affected by the disaster, with no need for collateral or mortgages. Meanwhile, the number of lives lost to the flooding has climbed to 80, with 2.12 lakh individuals still struggling with the aftermath.
