Assam enhances PM POSHAN initiative to improve student nutrition

The Assam government is ramping up the PM POSHAN program to boost the health and nutritional intake of students. Projections indicate that approximately 28.97 lakh children will be covered by the scheme in the 2026-27 period. To support this, the state is incorporating nutrition gardens, ragi-based health beverages, and additional eggs into school meal plans. Currently, 43,670 schools have established nutrition gardens, while 11.75 lakh students are being provided with ragi drinks and 4.75 lakh children are receiving supplemental eggs on a weekly basis.
