Assam approves ₹600 crore proton beam therapy facility for cancer care
Chief Minister Himanta Sarma announced that the Assam Cabinet has cleared the acquisition of a proton beam therapy machine for cancer patients at a cost of ₹600 crore. He explained that the project will be funded through a ₹315 crore loan from the World Bank, while the state will contribute the remaining ₹285 crore. Sarma noted that this initiative will establish Assam as the first state in India to offer proton beam therapy within the public health system.
