ARAI study warns E20 fuel could harm rubber fuel components in older vehicles
A report by the Times of India states that an unpublished study by ARAI discovered that using E20 petrol in vehicles designed for E10 fuel might cause damage to rubber fuel-system parts. While the study supported the introduction of E20, it noted that components such as seals, gaskets, hoses, and O-rings might require changing. The research indicated that while BS-IV engines performed adequately with E20, there were complications identified when using the fuel in BS-VI turbocharged engines.
