Anthropic has released Claude Sonnet 5, which the company calls its most agentic Sonnet model to date. According to Anthropic, the model can autonomously plan tasks, utilize tools, and check its own work without needing specific instructions. It approaches the performance levels of Opus 4.8 across various benchmarks while being much more affordable. Additionally, the company noted that the model demonstrates fewer hallucinations and less sycophancy compared to the previous version, Sonnet 4.6.
