American startup begins project to prevent NASA satellite from falling to Earth

Katalyst Space Technologies, a firm based in the US, has deployed its robotic craft, LINK, as part of the first American initiative to recover an aging satellite currently in orbit. The goal of this operation is to protect NASA’s 22-year-old Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, which is at risk of re-entering the atmosphere and crashing because it is losing altitude from atmospheric drag. NASA has granted a $30 million contract to Katalyst to carry out this mission.
