Amazon accused of destroying rare books to train its AI models
A 404 Media investigation reveals that Amazon has been purchasing and subsequently destroying rare, vintage books after scanning them to feed its artificial intelligence systems. The discovery was made after an AirTag hidden in a shipment of roughly 1,000 books tracked the items to an Amazon warehouse dedicated to a project codenamed "VGT3." It is ironic that the company, which famously launched as an online bookstore, is now disposing of physical books for digital training purposes.
