Air India asks Tata, Singapore Airlines for ₹14,294 crore to fund turnaround: Report

To finance its turnaround amid rising losses, Air India is requesting $1.5 billion (₹14,294 crore) from its parent companies, Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, according to a Reuters report. This proposed capital injection would be one of the biggest funding requests made to its shareholders since the Tata Group acquired the carrier in 2022. Currently, the airline is in the middle of a multi-billion-dollar overhaul planned by N Chandrasekaran, the outgoing Chairman of Tata Sons.
