AI identifies subtle heart signal linked to sudden cardiac death

Researchers at UC Berkeley have employed artificial intelligence to uncover a previously undetected electrical pattern in the heart that could serve as a predictor for sudden cardiac death. By examining a dataset of more than 440,000 ECG readings from Sweden alongside corresponding mortality records, the team discovered that AI is capable of spotting a new warning indicator within standard heart tests. Sudden cardiac death is defined as a lethal cardiac arrest that happens within 60 minutes of the first signs of trouble.
