Activist in tears as she opposes cutting of 4,000 trees for Uttarakhand road project
A video circulating online captures a female activist weeping as she demonstrates against the removal of 4,000 trees near 'Saat Mod' to make way for the Bhaniyawala-Jolly Grant-Rishikesh road expansion project. During the protest, she stated, "We don't need bigger roads...We don't need development." Additional footage shows her in a heated confrontation with forest department staff. Locals have since initiated a Chipko-style movement to prevent the trees from being cut down.
