Aamir Khan clarifies the inspiration behind his '3 Idiots' role
Aamir Khan has stated that the character Phunsukh Wangdu from the film '3 Idiots' was not inspired by Sonam Wangchuk. Director Rajkummar Hirani previously explained that the role was actually modeled after an individual he encountered at FTII. Hirani shared, "He had a dream of becoming a filmmaker but failed to get admitted. When a friend of his was accepted, his father blocked him from attending. Consequently, the student took on his friend's name and identity to pursue his film studies."
