A look at the life of JRD Tata

Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata, widely recognized as JRD Tata, was the man who introduced civil aviation to India. In 1929, he became the first person in the country to receive a pilot's license, and he went on to establish Tata Airlines in 1932. The carrier, which was eventually rebranded as Air India, reached a major turning point in India's aviation history while he was in charge. In October 1932, he flew a light plane to transport mail from Karachi to Bombay.
