60 years after final exams, former Mizoram CM Zoramthanga receives BA degree
At 82, former Mizoram Chief Minister and Mizo National Front leader Zoramthanga has finally been awarded his bachelor's degree from Gauhati University. This comes six decades after he took his final examinations in 1966. Zoramthanga had joined the MNF in 1965 and subsequently went underground to participate in an armed insurgency. After the Mizoram Accord was signed in 1986, he transitioned into mainstream politics and went on to serve three terms as the state's Chief Minister, beginning in 1998.
